Does work December 4, 2009 Ryan J. Toste (Massachusetts, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this blanket for my girlfriend, and she loves it. The material is thick and soft enough that you really only have to use a very low setting to achieve a comfortable temperature, and sometimes she's fine without turning it on and uses it as a regular blanket.
The only downside seems to be that immediately after removing it from the packaging, it shed alot of little blue fuzzes, so just make sure to wash it as soon as you know you want to keep it.

There definitely seems to be a problem with Sunbeam blankets.
I purchased mine (another model) a year ago, it worked that winter, and when I pulled it out this year it was just plain Dead.
Considering I spent a hundred dollars on it, and I really loved the blanket last winter, I was sorely disappointed by this event.
I emailed customer service three times and received three useless replies.
They wanted me to mail my King Sized, Dead blanket to Mississippi to be "Repaired"; shipping it at MY expense....can you say $45.00?
Now...I had a 50/50 chance of this blanket going in to be fixed (I am only in year two of my five year warranty)only to have it happen again after it was "fixed". If I had to send it again to be "fixed" to the tune of $45.00, I'd have nearly bought a new one. I really did not want this blanket back, it is obviously defective in some way, or just bad by design...of which, I do not know. Somehow this just didn't make sense to me and the odds felt very against my favor.
I truly had tried to get this blanket to work six times, as did my husband. I orginally bought it for him as we have sub-zero weather and it's nice when he gets off at 6 a.m. to crawl into a heated bed after he's half frozen. So you see, this was important to me to find a resolution to this problem. I even looked at other brands of blankets, but there are not many out there, it would seem Sunbeam has a cornered this market quite well, and what is out there, is three times as expensive. I...happen to think $100 for a blanket is exhorbitant, but with heat...well worth it. IF it works.
So I offered to spend ANOTHER $100 on a $200.00 Sunbeam blanket for a NEW one. And they said they didn't do Exchanges...apparently the extra $100 wasn't worth pleasing Me. Odd, I thought. So this time I emailed customer service and I asked to have my message forwarded to a Supervisor as the Customer Service responses were unacceptable at best. I informed them that I had posted EIGHT bad reviews on the internet and if they did not wish to accomodate me in some way, that I had all week to write Bad Reviews on their blankets. I also told them I was contacting Jarden, the parent company about this. One lovely Customer Service lady had the gall to tell me their products were excellent...really? Because MINE ISN'T and then I copied all the reviews from Amazon and sent them to her to prove that..no, they are NOT excellent! Here's your proof on 75 reviews! After that email, I looked up the President of Jarden and got his phone number, I was prepared to call him on Monday morning.
Believe me...in this age, reviews are important!! If you buy something...leave a review! Even if you aren't buying from Amazon, leave a review here! It makes a difference!!
Now for the good part...
DON'T ACCEPT NO FOR AN ANSWER!! I'm glad I didn't!
While I was shopping on Saturday, a very nice lady from Sunbeam called me to say she was going to assist me with my problem.
I was shopping after Thanksgiving and was standing in Best Buy at the time, and she offered to call me Tuesday.
Today is Tuesday, and she did as promised, she called.
She had all my information and emails, she asked for some numbers off of my blanket, and promised to send me shipping tags to mail my blanket back to them at their cost!! Yay, finally someone helpful!!
AND she ordered me a new blanket!!!!
I could NOT BE MORE PLEASED at this point! And I'm praying my new blanket will not have any problems.
But very happy that Sunbeam addressed my problem and made me happy! Now THAT is Customer Service!!!
So...IF you have a problem with YOUR blanket, contact Sunbeam. Don't just eat the money you spent, your money is as good as mine is, and your product SHOULD WORK. I feel that Sunbeam did what was right by their product and as consumers we have a right to be happy with our purchases. A blanket with a five year warranty SHOULD WORK FOR FIVE YEARS right? If it doesn't, they need to honor our purchase with a product that will work.
Anyway...Happy with SUNBEAM!!!

Toasty, but the fabric sheds October 20, 2009 safffron 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is my first electric blanket. I wonder why it took me so long to get one, because it's great. This Sunbeam warms up quickly and it's easy to control the settings. The only drawback, and it's a minor one, is that the fabric on my blanket is already shedding and pilling.
Soft, warm, nice color October 6, 2009 Steve (Gig Harbor, WA) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
I'm not a big fan of electric blankets, but my wife is. Needless to say, we bought this for her. However, I do enjoy using the preheat feature for about 5 minutes or so to warm the bed up before I get into it. We have a California King bed but the king blanket fits just fine. After doing some research, I couldn't find a CA king electric blanket anywhere so I assume they aren't made.
This blanket works well. The controls are sleek and modern-looking and there seems to be plenty of room to leave them on the floor or set them on a nightstand. One possible concern is that the cord that plugs into the wall is on the right side controller. We had to make some adjustments because the outlet on the right side was pretty full. Plugging the unit into a wall on the left side of the bed doesn't really allow the right-side controller enough room to rest on the nightstand.
Sunbeam makes a variety of controls. The one with this blanket is called "ComfortSet" if you want to do some comparing. It's near the top of the line and the only thing that is missing is the ambient temp compensation that their top two models have.
My wife finds the warmth to be more than adequate. The controls allow plenty of settings and the preheat and auto off features are nice. This isn't a fancy, plush, high-quality blanket but it is still soft and appears to be well-made. Of course, it didn't cost over $200 either.
We purchased this item from DealYard. I'm always leery of non-Amazon vendors but the blanket was delivered on time and came in a new package. They appear to buy discontinued items so I couldn't find more info about this blanket on Sunbeam's website. The packaging had JC Penney's name on it and the directions had a 2007 copyright date.
