Product Description A truly remarkable blanket with a unique velvety texture, Vellux provides warm yet lightweight comfort, will not mat or pill and washed beautifully. In fact, the more you wash it, the softer it gets. No wonder it is featured in many of America's finest hotels. It's the durable blanket that lasts a lifetime. The Martex Velluxe is America's best selling blanket. It's the top choice for parents with children and the top choice for hotels nation-wide. Velvety and luxurious. Hypo-allergenic. Very durable, withstands frequent washings. Will not fade, pill, stretch, or matt. The perfect year-round blanket because it's lightweight but warm. Offered in a broad assortment of colors.

Variable Quality March 18, 2010 M. Rice You can't depend on the quality of these blankets. I bought two of them and when they arrived, they both appeared to be exactly the same. After a couple of washings, one blanket is still plush, comfortable, and attractive. The other sheds like crazy to the point where fine, fuzzy "dust" spreads throughout the room it occupies. It has lost much of its softness. I don't know why they are so different, but just be forewarned that you might get a good blanket--but then again you might not.
blanket March 9, 2010 Nana Lou (LI, NY) must have been stored a long time/set in fold lines/needed two washing with fabric softener to make it look presentable/sits and the foot of the bed in my quest room as an extra blanket
Not As Good As Used To Be February 26, 2010 Truth Above All (Medfordm OR) I bought two Vellux blankets 2 years ago for a full bed and they were great. They wetre made in the USA. They should be washed often and always end up looking like new. In general they are very lightweight and keep you very warm. They have always been more expensive than other blankets but well worth it.
My first disappointment when I opened the package was that they were made in China. In my opinion I have never seen a quality Chinese made product and these are no exception. They were stitched on all 4 sides but the stitching was rough and uneven, A 10 year old could do a better job.
The tan one I ordered seemed fine but made a little coarser than I am used to, Heavier with a rougher finish. The ivory one is the same with the added negative of dark staining along the seams. Also in unfolding it seemed to be stuck together at the folds all this indicative it had been stored somewhere a long time. They have survived their first washing with no bad results.
I have been using these blankets since they came on the market. They have always lasted a long time and given good service. Looking at these I can only hope.
My other gripe is Amazons return policy of return within 30 days in original wrapping. Doesn't say much for their confidence in the product.
I have always bought these at JCPenney as they have a great return policy but they do not seem to carry them anymore.
Sheds February 21, 2010 D N (USA) I loved my first velour blanket bought a while back, not sure which brand, made in the USA, soft, hypoallergenic. This one is OK but not as soft. It had a funny smell out of the bag. So I washed in cold water before use, & it shed a lot in the washer & dryer. I didn't return due to having washed it. It still sheds some. Label says made in China, hmmmmm, much poorer quality than that first one I bought a while back. Sorry, don't usually have anything against Chinese made goods.
vellux blanket February 14, 2010 Tatiana i am very fond of vellux blankets and when i received this blanket, i was very happy. it was bigger than i thought it would be for a queen mattress but i wanted to make sure when my husband would "hog" the covers i'd have adequate coverage too. great blanket until my 10 yr old cut holes in it for some reason.
